Blue Monday: recommendations

Blue Monday, the third Monday of January, is known as the gloomiest day of the year. It’s a time when people feel down and often overwhelmed. But, there are ways to beat the blues and make this time of year more enjoyable. Here are some tips to help you fight Blue Monday and make it through the day with a smile on your face:

• Start your day with exercise. Research has shown that regular physical activity can help boost your mood and reduce stress. Even a short walk, jog, or stretch can make a huge difference in how you feel throughout the day.

• Spend time with friends and family. Connecting with the people you love is a great way to feel happier and less isolated. Make plans to spend time with your loved ones, whether it’s a virtual hangout or a real-life one.

• Take a break from social media. It can be hard to avoid scrolling through news feeds, posts, and stories. But, too much time spent on social media can lead to feelings of anxiousness and depression. Taking a break from it all can help you reset your mindset and focus on what really matters.

• Take time for yourself. Make sure you set aside time to relax and do something you enjoy. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a long walk, or listening to music, make sure you take time to do something that makes you feel good.

• Practice self-care. Make sure you’re taking care of your physical and mental health. Eat healthily, get plenty of sleep, and be mindful of how you’re feeling.

• Be kind to yourself. Don’t be hard on yourself if you’re feeling down. Instead, practice self-compassion and be gentle with yourself.

• Do something nice for someone else. Doing something kind for someone else can help lift your spirits. Make a point of helping someone in need or doing something nice for a friend or family member. It can make a big difference in your mood.
